Although in Amritsar you will get many hotel options around the railway station and bus stand. But my opinion the closer you stay to the Golden Temple the more convenient it will be for you because most of the main locations are around the Golden Temple. Here on Golden Temple road you will find many hotels in the range of RS 700 to 1500.
If you want to stay for free then stay at the ashrams near Golden Temple Gurudwara.

This pleace main car parking of the Golden Temple is located. If you are coming in your car, after parking you can go to see the Golden Temple through this passage and on the way to gurudwara you will see entry to Jallianwala Bagh too so now lets heat towards golden temple.

Jallianwala Bagh history :-
Jallianwala Bagh is the place where a horrific massacre took place before India got the independence 13th April 1919 on the day Baisakhi festival, a large numer of people had gathered in this park to protest against the Rowlatt although it was a peacefull protest but when general Machal O’Dwyer got to know about this gathering he ordered his soldiers to surround this place even blocked the only exit with a battle tank, and order all soldiers to fire free History is witness to such a horrific massacre, and in ths firing, no young or old person could survive ans all the peo were martyred chose to give lives by jumping into the well built here, and there came a moment when this well was filled to the brim with corpses. Original bullet marks arew still present on this wall. The target of those bullets have been marked here. So that people can see ans fell what those who got stuck here at that at that time must have been through. At that time all the guns were 303 rifles with very large bullets.
The story of shaheed Bhagat Singh was also being shown here and the ashes of Shaheed Udham Singh are still present here. General Dwyer who perpetrated the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. He returned to England after retiremen, Udham Singh Ji was a kid and was present here on the day of massacre, but Udham Singh Ji had taken a vow I will take revenge and kill him Udham Singh Ji reahed London after a lot of hard work and planning, and there he shot two bullets at general Dyer and after that he died. Udham Singh was tried and hanged for the murder of Dwyer in London in 1940. So his ashes remains are atill present here, you must visit Jallianwala Bagh you will like it very much, you can pay tribute to the martyrs.
Gurudwara Ruls:-
So before going to the Gurudwara, one has to cover one’s head with piece of cloth. You will see a basket full of patka at the entrance of gurudwara before entering any Gurudwara, one has to cover one’s head that is why here is fa free service for all or else you can buy it too like the way I did you will also see counters for enquiry, cloak rooms, shoes stands. Shose stand which is also a free service. Bages having clothes only will be allowed to keep there incase there is any valuable item like, money, wallet, mobile camera etc. shooting with camera is strictly prohibited inside the golden temple so these are few basic ruls which news to be followed before visiting.

As soon as you enter the gurudwara, the first thing you will see is this beautiful golden temple which is built in the middle of this sacred pond and this pond is known as amrit sarovar many visitors take a holy dip in this sacred sarovar then visit gurudwara. This gurudwara is also known as Harmandir saheb or Darbar saheband becausevit is covered with pure gold that is the reason behind the name golden temple. Amritsar city is named after this sacred Amrit Sarovar. This holy pond was built by by 4th sikh guru shri Ramdas ji.
After this sikh guru shri arjan dav jibuilt this gurudawara the construction of this gurudwara started in the year 1585 and in the year 1604 construction was completed. According to history, this gurudwara was demolished seral time and rebuilt again. In the 19th century for the last time this gurudwara was demolished by afghan attackers, and after this Maharaja Ranjit Singh got it rebuit and got it decorated with gold. It is said that is ia covered with 750kg of of pure gold that is why it is called as the golden temple. The Golden temple looks mush more beautiful at night when the lighting is switched on then it does during the daylight.
You try the delicious langar prasad in the hall built inside the Gurudwara complex. This langar is open here hours a day, and all the people working here give free service out of their own will, if you wish, you can lend a helping hand in Guru Seva in some work here.

At a distance of 500m from Jallianwala Bagh this status can be seen, which is the statue of Bhimrao Ambedkar right in front of this you will see the partition music.

Entry ticket price RS 10 per person. Video recording inside is strictly not allowed. Actually in 1947 during partition, original documents, news articles, books related to it were there, and also the old stuff of a lot of people who had moved from one place to another during the time of partition and had left their belongings behind is also kept there. Many official signed documents copy is also there that might be the reason for no photography inside.
Durgiana Temple :-
Partition Museum to Durgiana temple distance 2km for which cycle rikshaw drivers charge between RS 30-50. Very beautiful temple and to a large exent, this temple will make you feel that you have come near the Golden temple. You will see a pond around the temple and in the maddle is Durgiana temple. All the doors of this temple are made of silver. This is special thing, the upper part of the temple is made of pure gold and the lower part is made of pure silver. Trere is no fort here as the name suggests. But some tradition functions and some fun activies can be seen happening here for which one has to buy entry ticket price.
Attari Wagah Border:-
Attari Wagah Border is 30km away from Amritsar and to reach here you will find sharing auto operators on Golden Temple. Which takes you to Wagah border for just RS 200 and dropsyou backat the same place. But my opinion you not to get into all these things. You can come to Maharaja Ranjit Singh Chowk where you will fine a Touism bus run by the Punjab Government.
Ho Ho bus was launched by the Punjab Government to promote Punjab Tourism. This bus runs here in two shift timings. In which the bus at 10:00 in the morning takes you to whaga border in the evening after doing local sightseeing so basically it becomes a kind of full day trip, and then I also confirmed my booking in the 2:00 pm bus which will take me directly to Wagah border (my opinion ). This is a double decker bus with open upper deck which makes it special.
If you come here by auto rickshaw or other vehicle, they will drop you at least 1km away since I have come in a government bus, the border is just 100m distance from here. We were given some special instructions in the bus do not carry power bank, battery light, bags and many other prohibited items with you camera, mobile, wallet, money and eatables is allowed one cannot carry extra batteries too. However etc. are also available here Rs 100 per bags.
There are two check posts in which thorough checking is done, as I told you what items you should not bring. This stadium Lahore 22 km diction.
This unique ceremony on the India Pakistan border has been taking place here every day since 1959 which is called as the beating retreat ceremony and this border is also known as Attari- Wagah border. Because the village located on the Indian side is Attari and the village located on the Pakistani side is Wagah. This ceremony takes place at 4:15pm in winter time and at 5:15 pm in summer time. The whole ceremony takes about 30minutes to complete and its entry is free for everyone.
