Visit Nagaland in 7 Days – Explore Culture, Nature & Heritage

Explore Nagaland:-

The capital of Nagaland is Kohima which is on the mountain and most of the tourist places are on that side. But to reach here nearby railway station and airport are in Dimapur for which trains or flights are not directly from your city. So you can get down at Guwahati’s airport or railway station from where you can come to Dimapur by train or bur in 4-6 hours. And you can get a bus outside the station for 150 RS. But it is only available from morning to 3-4 PM. So by sharing taxi you can reach Kohima for RS 500-600 the  roads of which are very beautiful. And you can reach Kohima in about 2.5-3 hours.

Dimapur:-

Guwahati to Dimapur distance is 5 hours, By train you can reach here. Even the direct train from Delhi reaches here in about 32 hours.

Guwahati to Dimapur distance is 280 KM and from Dimapur to Kohima is about 70 KM.

State Bus Terminal:-

This state bus terminal if you also want to go to the interior part.

Jakhama:-

Kohima to Jakhama distance 17 KM .

Because the real beauty of Nagaland is in the villages around the city. When you come to Nagaland’s village you have to stay in homestays, because there is no facility like a hotel here.

Homestay Facilities :-

So I am staying in a homestay there are two beds here, a blanket and pillow. There is no fan or AC because it is not hot here. And the washroom is quite big and there is a geyser in it so you  get hot water. But there are only 2 lights here and nothing else, there is Wi-Fi. Lunch, dinner, etc. is available here. There is nothing much outside available here.

Jakhama Village :-

In Jakhama village, you get the whole village experience where apart from farms there are some view points and there is also a church. Where you can take a 1-2 hour village walk in the evening. Because it looks the most beautiful in the evening.

On the 2nd day I am going to Dzukou Valley.

Dzukou Valley:-

You have to get in the pickup car and you have to reach a point there in this. To go to Dzokou Valley, you can stay in Jakama or Vishwema village. From where in the morning you have to reach the base point of Dzukou valley trek.

Dzukou Valley
Dzukou Valley

Distance :-

The base point is 13 KM from Jakama village and 7 KM from Vishwema village. But this trip is in an open pickup vehicle, which is a very adventurous experience for you. After Vishwema, the 7 KM of roads is very tiring. This patch was very bad. So it took 1.5 hours to reach here.

So if you want you can come here by Sumo bicycle available here there are conditions you will have to book it privately and for that, you will have to pay 1500 RS. Whether you come full or alone, you will have to pay for one side.

So, it is better to travel in a group. So you will save money.

Solo traveling Dzokou Valley Trek :-

The total trek of Dzokou Valley is about 8 KM this is considered easy. Because it is only 1.5 KM uphill from the start and you will feel tired only in this. No doubt, the starting paths are tiring.

But after this 1.5 KM, the point that comes, the views open from here and the mobile network is not available beyond this point. And after this, the paths that come, they surprise you. The sound of the wind is coming. The sound of the leaves hitting the wind. And after, the paths were the same. Both sides of which were short bamboo trees. But when they were opening an open view of the valley was visible. But the most interesting thing was that the entire path after this was plain. That’s why after about 4 hours of walking without stopping, I was very close to Dzokou Valley. Then you have a campsite in Dzokou valley. It took us 3 hours to reach here.

Dzokou Valley camp site:-

You can set up your camp at the campsite of Dzokou Valley. But you’ll have to pay to set up your tent here. While in meals there are only options of maggie, tea, coffee, Dal rice and a curry.

Sometime in life, we live in the right times. And from those moments, these were some moments. And whenever these moments come, everything becomes quiet. A silence is created and I feel like looking at it for a moment. So, Dzokou Valley is all around the trees that you saw on the way, they become a field and this Dzokou Valley is made of them. So this place is a so beautiful.

Dzokou Valley Trek Cost:-

You are going now Transport,  then you have to RS 6899. And if you come during the rest of the time, then you have to pay RS 5899. In this, your lunch, dinner, breakfast Dimapur to Dimapur transportation is included.

TRANSPORTATION:-

1.            Night Homestay

2.            Night camp

3.            Lunch, , Dinner and  Breakfast

The camp is included, one night in Kisama and one night here. When the Hornbill festival is there, you get a stay in Kisama. And if Hornbill is not there, then you get a home stay in Jakhama.

Carry Luggage :-

You should carry warm clothes like thermal wear, gloves, winter cap and socks with you because it gets very cold on the way.

If you want, you can go and return to Dzukou Valley on the same day. But for this leaving at 5-6 AM and starting returning from 1-2 PM. However, this will be a hectic and apart from sunset and sunrise, you will miss stargazing at night and many other things. That’ s why, I prefer to stay here because you will get the real experience in that. The toilets here are Indian style only but you get clean ones only.

Konima Market:-

Konima Market, you coming feels like a mountainous place. You will see a bit of a congested road and it will be a bit noisy as well. If you want, you can also rent a scooter here just searching on Google

Khonoma Village:-

Khonoma village is only 20 KM away from Kohima city. After an hour letter you arrive at Khonoma Village. After coming to this village, it is compulsory to take a local guide who will take you on a village walk.

Dimapur HongKong Market:-

In this market you will get to see a lot of variety of dresses be it men’s or women’s. Small food stalls are available. It is considered a very famous and cheap market and raw material going for Kohima also goes from here and a lot of people buy wholesale from here. But you should also be careful here one thing that the locals told me is that you should take care of your luggage here because you can get robbed and also don’t go to a quiet place.
