Introduction For Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple Information
It’s a very famous temple dedicated to Lord ‘Vishnu‘; the temple is made very well, and its architecture is awesome. ‘Sri Padmanabhaswamy‘ temple is in the capital of Kerala ‘Thiruvananthapuram‘.
First of all, the ‘darshanam’ you get here is of Lord ‘Sri Hari Vishnu‘, Temple Lord ‘Hari Vishnu‘ idol hight is 18 ft. Lord lying on ‘Sheshnag‘ in sleeping posture which you’ll not find in any Temple in India. Sharda narrating position of Lord ‘Hari Vishnu‘ he is been called ‘Padmanabha‘. It’s history related to a’ Vaishnav’ sage ‘ Vilwamangalam Swamiyar‘ . He was immersed in devotion to Lord ‘Shri Hari Vishnu‘. He used to meditate with closed eyes. A boy used to come again and again and distract him from his devotion. The boy then revealed to him that he himself is the Lord ‘Shri Hari Vishnu’. Then the boy ordered him that if he wants to do ‘ Darshan ‘ of his ‘ Virat roop’ the he must follow him. While walking ‘ Swami ji ‘ reached under a ‘Mahua’ tree in Ananthankadu’ jungale. So, in ‘Ananthankadu’ forest while sitting under a ‘ Mahua’ tree he started waiting for ‘Virat roop’ ‘ Darshan’ of Lord ‘Shri Hari Vishnu’. The ‘ Mahua’ tree under which ‘Swami Ji‘ was sitting suddenly fell down. And, from inside that ‘Mahua’ tree he got the ‘ Virat roop’ ‘Darshan’ of Lord ‘Shri Hari Vishnu‘ And today, the ‘Darshan’ which we get inside, there is a belief that the inner part of today’s ‘Padmanabhaswamy‘ Temple is made from the inner part of the same ‘ Mahua’ tree. The Arabian sea is also situated very close to the ‘Padmanabhaswamy‘ Temple. The main festival here is ‘Arattu‘ festival.
Arattu/Painkuni Festival
In it idol of God is made to bath twice a year. It is called ritual bath. ‘Painkuni Arattu‘ festival is celebrated in March – april, then also Lord is made to bath. Being close to the Arabian sea the beauty of this temple increases even more.

West Nada, Fort, East Fort, Pazhavangadi, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala 695023, From Thiruvananthapuram to Padmanabhaswamy temple the distance is 6 km. The temple is located right in the city at East Fort, and it’s easy to reach by auto, bus, or cab. From Trivandrum central railway station it is only about 1.5 km . Bus stop name is a ‘East Fort‘.
