Lakshadweep Tourism: Beaches, Resorts, Activities & Travel Tips

Introduction Lakshadweep

Lakshadweep is not just one or two islands, it comprises 36 islands in total. However, these islands are so small that more than a thousand of them could fit into Delhialone. That’s why Lakshadweep holds the title of India’s smallest union territory. Out of the 36 islands in this region, only 10 are inhabited, meaning thet people live on then, the remaining islands are untouched and uninhabited.

But since they are located in the middle of the ocean, the are only two ways to reach them: a long, several-hour ship journey from Kerala, or the easier option of flying to the only airport this is how arrived in this beautiful place, on the stunning island of Agatti.

The best way to explore these islands is by scooty. The paths here, lined with coconut trees, create a unique atmosphere, and the blue sea is always by your side since this island is quite small. In a short time, very narrow road in Agatti, with the sea stretching on both sides. From this location, you can witness both the sunrise and sunset. Because the island has both its eastern and western parts accessible from the same spot.

Northern Lagoon Beach:-

Where I discovered a stunning beach called Lagoon Beach. At this point, the land suddenly comes to an end, and the rocks that make up the island also ends abruptly. This results in large waves rising dramatically because the water is very deep crashing against the rocks and aerating towering waves that display immense power.

The entire landscape of Lakshadweep is composed of coral.

Corals :-

Basically, corals are living organisms that found in the sea and look something like this, in different shapes and colours. But these are all corals, and fishes also live among them, like colonies in the sea. And when they grow and spread into large groups, they are known as coral reefs. Within these reefs, some coral is alive while other parts consist of hard dead skeletons of corals. When a reef becomes large enough to divide the seawater into a shallower area, that shallow water is referred to as a lagoon, which often has a beautiful turquoise colour. This is why these beaches are also called Lagoon Beaches.

Throughout Agatti Island, you’ll find lagoons created by these ring-like coral reefs. Islands that are surrounded by such rings of coral are known as Coral Atolls, and in India, they can only be found in Lakshadweep, which is proof of the unique and rich ecosystem here.

Glass Boat:-

All the coral life under the Lakshadweep sea can now be seen while sitting in this boat. This boat features a large glass panel at its base, and because of that, all the coral life below is clearly visible. You can observe colour full, vibrant corals up close, along with the carefree fish swimming among them.

Kalpitti Island:-

A heart shaped island that is less than 1 km in size and uninhabited, meaning no one lives here. Sunsets best view points.

Kavaratti Island:-

Kavaratti, often described as the heart of Lakshadweep, is a beautiful island with coconut trees and surrounded by a stunning lagoon. On the shore, you can see encountered something truly unique, a massive shipwreck. Kavaratti is one of the oldest inhabited settlements in Lakshadweep, and it feature some traditional houses.

Bangaram Island:-

Bangaram is a small, tear-drop-shaped island surrounded by a stunning lagoon and sparking white send beaches. The water here is even clearer than the already beautiful blue ocean of Lakshadweep. Walking in such a beautiful place. The beaches here are so narrow that the sea surrounds them on both sides, which is quite rare. Every morning,  durng high tide, the entire beach goes underwater, leaving behind distinctive we’ve marks. Is considered the most luxurious island in Lakshadweep. There no local population here; only a resort, which is stunning in its design.

These tents on the white beach seem to be part of it, they’re called “Cocoons”. These tents are designed to resemble a butterfly’s cocoon and are just as beautiful on the inside. Discovered that the night holds a different kind of beauty that I hadn’t anticipated.

You can see night time view bioluminescence is visible here a glittering blue light.

Shipwreck Nand Aparajita:-

It’s remarkable to see how a ship, stranded for so many years, can still exude beauty. The surrounding scenery enhances the shipwreck’s allure, creating a breathtaking view that feels like a movie set. In 2010, this massive ship, weighing thousands of tons, ran aground on a coral reef.

Rolls:-

You must be wanting to visit too. Traveling to Lakshadweep is little different from other places because it’s located in India’s southern most islands, so you need a special permit and a police clearance certificate to get there, which is quite difficult to obtain on your own.
